2008/2009 Update MissionThe Mentorship Program exists to have working professionals guide and assist club members on a regular basis through their years of academia and beyond. The program provides advice and direction to members and to encourage networking and an open source of communication. The ProgramWorking in conjunction with Sauder’s Executive Mentor Program (EMP), the program pairs real estate professionals with club members within the first months of the school year. Eligible participants are interviewed and screened prior to being paired and are matched with professionals according to their interests in real estate. Although open to all club members, priority is given to students in their graduating year. Benefit for MembersMembers benefit by being able to go out and meet professionals in their respective fields of interest. This allows members to see firsthand how the industry works, what the requirements are for a particular job, how firms are structured, and a day in the life of a professional. They will be able to ask questions and learn from their mentor to better prepare themselves for the future. Benefit for ProfessionalsBy being able to meet with members who will soon enter the workforce, our hope is to provide a selection of students that will become potential employees, colleagues, and/or a key contact in the industry. |
